The primary functions of Boipelego Educational Project Unit (BEPU)
are to assist the Ministry of Education with the technical advice
and the provision of all necessary infrastructure and facilities.

BOCODOL aims to provide high quality learning accessible to out -of -school
young people and adults nation-wide using the methods of distance
and open learning.

The Curriculum Development Division offers three programmes. These are the
Primary School Programme, the Junior Secondary School programme
and the Senior Secondary School programme.

The Examinations Research and Testing Division exists to assess and certify the achievement of learners, provide selection information and feedback to all stakeholders, conduct research intended for improving the reliability and validity of assessment and for monitoring progress in education.

The Department of Non - Formal Education exists to provide equitable quality
lifelong education and training to out-of-school population by equipping
them with essential learning productive skills to empower them to
be effective and competitive in a global village.

The aim of the Department is to provide appropriate and effective Primary Education
to enable the young generation within the Republic to acquire basic
skills, abilities, talents and general knowledge and thereby become,
to the extent possible, self-reliant and useful members of society.

Planning, Statistics and Research is responsible for providing specialised
educational planning, co-ordinating it with national macro-economic
planning and collects and analyses information about the education
sector to inform decision-making.

The major areas of function are the provision of facilities and quality assurance.
The Department also prepares budget for the entire secondary education
system and monitors the use of funds by schools and regional offices.
The Department has dececentralised some of its functions to the
five regions.

The Division of Special Education will be a proactive support and advisory organisation that ensures that learners with special educational needs are identified early, assessed, and placed to receive quality education and training, in tune with technological advancement which will enable them to live independently and contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

The Department of Student Placement and Welfare will be the driving force in
the facilitation of Tertiary Education and Training by providing
a sustainable and transparent financial support system.Through a
caring and motivated staff, we will provide quality service for
efficient development of human resources for the entire economy.

We exist to provide quality Teachers to the education system through timely recruitment and equitable distribution of these teachers to all Government and Government supported schools in Botswana.

The primary purpose of the Department is to give leadership and direction in teacher education at both Pre-service and In-service levels.
The main objective of the Department therefore, is to develop a well qualified and highly motivated local teaching staff.

The Department of Vocational Education and Training is a department under the Ministry of Education with responsibility for technical and vocational education in Botswana. The department is primarily responsible for the institutionalised training provided through six Technical Colleges.
