Service Description

This provides a guideline for applicants seeking permission to teach in private secondary schools in Botswana. It also provides a guide for renewal of permission to teach. A person may be eligible for permission to teach if he/she has been offered a teaching position in a school and has the requisite qualification for the teaching position.The person must have a teaching qualification

 How do I Obtain the service

 The permission is sought from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development through the head of the institution the applicant has applied to.                                                                    

  1. No person shall be employed as a teacher at any private school unless the Permanent Secretary has given his/her  written approval for the employment of the person at that particular private school.                                    
  2. The manager of any school at which any person is employed as a teacher is responsible for ensuring that all the teachers in their school have been vetted and approved.Failing which the manager and the employee will be liable.

 How do I Apply for the service

The applicant must complete the application form PVTS1 and produce relevant documents from the prospective employer and personal documents.
