Education Information System (EIS)
The objective of EIS is to analyse upfront all the systems identified for development within MOE, determine the extent of their overlap and eventually create a Centralised Integrated Database serving many functions across the ministry's departmental boundaries.


Infrastructure Development

TSM Infinium System Implementation

Establish a system to manage teacher information and to provide access to system facilities from all regional offices and to devise appropriate structures as well as revised procedures to support effective implementation of the system.

Department of Secondary School Education Computerisation

  • To give students and teachers confidence and competence in IT literacy to enhance their teaching and learning.
  • To enable both teachers and students to decide when and when not to use IT in their teaching and learning.
  • To enable teachers and students to share resources with other teachers and students in the global village through the use of ICT.
  • To allow the diversification of the schools curriculum to include the field of ICT.


    Website Development
  • To publicise the Ministry of Education and uplift its image nationally and Internationally.
  • To provide information to our clients.
  • To increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the provision of services to our clients.
  • To reduce unnecessary direct contact with our clients requesting information that could otherwise be easily obtained from the website.
  • To disseminate and publicise Ministry of Education innovations.

    Document Management System Implementation
    Implement a distributed, extensible document management system by streamlining any number of cross-disciplinary processes rather than have a single vertical process. The system must be extended by integrating it with other major applications such as Infinium HR and the new Education Information System (EIS).

    Botswana National Education Processing System (BNEPS).

  • To produce a system that meets the particular requirements of ERTD with regard to examination data.
  • To establish a system which will accommodate criterion referenced testing and hence be more informative.
  • To make the examination data easily retrievable, secure from unauthorised modification but available for all authorised persons promptly on request. Delays in enquiries will be minimised.
  • To ensure that ERTD has expert advice on the implementation of the BNEPS.
  • To integrate functions that are directly related to the conduct of the examinations, regardless of type or level.
  • To implement a system which is fully understood by all users in the ERTD.

    Student Placement and Loan Recovery System (Re-Development)

  • To ensure that details of all applications are vetted using the same criteria to produce a selection list.
  • To provide a facility to finalise the placement of successful candidates at learning institutions.
  • To provide a facility to monitor student accounts and carry out the necessary accounting functions associated with this.
  • To provide a facility to monitor student accounts and carry out the necessary accounting function for remedial action if necessary.
  • To provide adequate management information.
